In Response To: Re: Catholic orphanage in Dubuque ? (Larry Hopper)

I remember seeing the pictures of Gene Autry in the front foyer of St Mary's at 2909 Kaufmann Ave in about 1959-1961 while I was a resident there. I don't really remember the cement that you speak of, I know that there were quite a few celebrity visits while I was there, I guess they were there to cheer the children up? Among them was The Lennon Sisters who live and work in Branson, Mo at this time. We also had a visit from Aunt Jemima, and The Blue Angels took us by military convoy to watch their performance at the Dubuque Airport. We also had a young lady who was a ballerina who visited and danced for us quite often, but I do not recall her name. I was not there when Gene Autry was there for his visit, I do wish I could help you more. I will contact my former Dorm mate Ravonna (Bonnie) Harry and see if she knows anything about his visit, and if she was there at the time of his visit, Thankyou, candyandrambo444@yahoo.com
