Bruce Daniel Maudlin, 50, of Burlington, Iowa, died at home on Sunday, September 28, 2014.

Born on April 11, 1964 in St. Joseph, Missouri, he was the son of Daniel A. and Marilyn D. Brown Maudlin.

Bruce was a 1982 graduate of Burlington High School. He then went on to graduate from Hamilton Technical College, Davenport, Iowa. He loved books, movies and animals, especially his cat “Georgie”. He was a member of First Christian Church, (Disciples of Christ).

He is survived by his parents, Dan and Marilyn; one sister, Janet (Mark) Mumme of Leshara, Nebraska; two uncles, Don Brown of Stanberry, Missouri and David (Ginger) Maudlin of St. Joseph, Missouri; six aunts, Evelyn (John) Ruby of Nixa, Missouri, Jean (Roy) Rinehart of Lawson, Missouri, Jewell Marcum of Monahans, Texas, Betty Smith of Allendale, Missouri, Madelyn (Wayne) Brooke of Raytown, Missouri and Rhonda Moore of Belton, Missouri; one nephew, Nathan (Lori) Ripperger of Ward, Arkansas; two nieces, Cierra Mumme of Carrollton, Missouri and Jovi Mumme, Yutan, Nebraska; and two great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

The memorial service for Bruce Maudlin will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Burlington, Iowa. Pastor David Younker will officiate. Interment will be in Kirk Cemetery, Allendale, Missouri at a later date.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Memorials have been established for First Christian Church, (Disciples of Christ) and the Des Moines County Humane Society. Condolences may be left at www.prughfuneralservice.com. Cremation has been entrusted to Prugh Funeral Service.
