DEATH OF HARRY M'GLENN
A Well-known Lumberman of this City for Many Years.

Harry McGlenn, for many years connected with the Clinton Lumber Company, of this city, died at his residence, No. 623 Fifth avenue, at 9 o'clock Friday evening of cancer of the stomach.

About one year ago, Mr. McGlenn, at that time engaged in the lumber business at Stillwater, Minn., became seriously ill, his sickness taking the form of typhoid pneumonia. He was confined to his room for some time, but under the skillful care of physicians he rallied and was again able to attend to his duties, although he was far from well.

A short time ago Mr. McGlenn suffered another attack, and was confined to his home on Fifth avenue. He grew better at times, however, and gave promise of again being able to be about. Thursday he grew rapidly worse, an Friday it was known that the end was near.

Mr. McGlenn was born in Brooklyn, N. Y., and was 54 years of age at the time of his death. He came west when he was yet a young man and became a locomotive engineer, making his first run from Chicago to Fulton over the C. & N. W. When the road crossed the river at this point he came with it and located in this city in 1864.

A short time after locating here he left the railroad and became an engineer at the Clinton Lumber company in this city, which position he held for several years, when he was promoted to the foremanship of the mills, and afterward was general manager of the company. Three years ago he went to Stillwater, Minn., where he purchased an interest in the Stillwater Lumber Co., of which he became general manager, but owing to poor health he sold out his interests there in 1887.

During his residence in Clinton he was several times elected Alderman from the Second ward, and was recognized as an able advocate of the best interests of the city.

During his residence in Stillwater he was elected to the same honorable position in that city.

Deceased leaves a widow, two daughters, young ladies, and a son, who is now about nine years of age, besides an only brother, Mr. Mark McGlenn, and a large circle of friends who sincerely mourn the death of the esteemed and valued citizen.

The funeral will occur from the house on Fifth avenue at 3 o'clock this afternoon, followed by burial in Springdale cemetery.
