William Nelson Hall, youngest child of Berthenia Perry and Jacob B. Hall, was born near Schenectady, New York, February 6, 1846, and died at his home in Weldon, Iowa, January 21, 1921, aged 74 years, 11 months and 15 days. At the age of twelve years he made his home with E. W. Burdick at Farmington, Illinois. He enlisted in the eleventh Illinois Cavalry August 21, 1861, and served until the close of the war. After his discharge he attended school at Milton, Wisconsin, for a few months. December 1, 1870, he was untied in marriage to Sarah Ellen Higgs at Atlanta, Illinois. To this union were born eight children, five boys and three girls. One daughter and five sons are still living. In 1876 he moved to Knoxville, Iowa, with his family and has resided in Iowa ever since. He moved to this vicinity in 1900. His wife died in Weldon January 9, 1912. He was married to Dorcas Barington October 1, 1912, who still survives him. He united with the Christian church at Woodburn in 1894. He has been a member of the I. O. O. F. for more than thirty years. Funeral services were held from the Christian church on Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. Smythe, pastor. Interment in the Hebron cemetery. Besides the wife, (unreadable), George and wife of Weldon; Harold of Colorado, and the only surviving daughter, Mrs. Imo Krutsinger and husband of Chariton, were present at the funeral. Two sons, Eugene of California, and Everett of Wyoming were unable to attend.
