DEATH OF MRS. GUTCHES

Well Known Resident of Osceola Dies
From Injuries In Colorado

At New Windsor, Colorado, August 21st occurred the death of Mrs. Geo. Gutches, and the body arrived in Osceola, Saturday August 25, where the funeral was held at the home of Frank Gutches. Interment was in the Osceola cemetery. Ellen Taylor was born in La Porte, Ind., April 24th, 1826 and at the time of her death was 80 years, 3 months and 27 days old. In 1811 at her home in Indiana she was married to Asa Owen. From Indiana they moved to Burlington, Iowa where Mr. Owen died in 1853. Mrs. Owen continued to make that her home until in 1855 when she moved to Clarke county. There she met George Gutches and they were married in 1858 and for the last 12 or 15 years have lived in Osceola until the death of her husband last April. On the 14th of May she accompanied his daughter, Mrs. George Briggs to her home at New Windsor. Her death was caused by a fall which she received ten days before her death.

She was converted and united with the M. E. church when a young girl and she was an earnest, Christian women. Further she was faithful to her vows and her Lord during the trying period of the Civil War when her husband was at the front, and she cared for five small children and the work on the farm.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. A. A. Walburn and was attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends.
