James S. Rowley was born in Clarke County, Iowa January 2, 1874 and died at Woodburn, Iowa, at a his father’s home, on April 18, 1910, aged 36 years, 3 months and 16 days. He was married to Agnes Hazel at Dubuque, Iowa, on June 28, 1902 and to this union were born 3 children, two girls and one boy. Colitta, the oldest child is 6 years and 10 months old. Lendall H. died at Dubuque on the 23rd of June 1908 at the age of one year and eight months. Eltheir is the youngest daughter aged 13 months. He leaves besides his wife and children his father, mother, 3 brothers and 3 sisters to mourn his loss.

Services were conducted at the St. Marys Catholic Church at Woodburn. Mr. Rowley having been received into the Church and was baptized about one month before he died. The Modern Woodmen of America had charge of the corpse and escorted it to St. Mary Church where Rev. Father McGillin of Chariton, conducted services at 10 o’clock A. M. The M.W.A. accompanied the remains to the Woodburn Cemetery, where he was laid to rest, waiting for his reward the day of Judgement.
