James C. Hegwood, 86, of Mason City, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Hospice of Arizona, Mesa, Ariz.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N. Delaware Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Daird Korth of Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and continue at the church Saturday one hour before services.

Jim was born April 14, 1927 in Winnebago, Minn., the son of Core and Ethel (Miner) Hegwood. He moved to Mason City in 1948. Jim worked as a truck driver his entire life for various companies in the North Iowa area. He enjoyed camping and his hunting and fishing trips to Canada. He wintered in Arizona the past 20 years. Jim was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge and the Lunker Club.

Jim is survived by his wife, Betty, of Mason City; step-sons, Chuck (Linda) Myhre of Northwood, and Marty (Lynette) Myhre of Vista, Calif.; sister, Betty Lux of Winnebago, Minn.; step-granddaughters, Megan Burke and Kimberly Myhre; step-great-grandson, Gabriel Burke; nieces, Carol Harding, Peggy Erickson and Nancy Wadas.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Evelyn, and brother-in-law, Ralph Lux.
