Edwin “Bud” Dale Heitland, 85, of Mason City, IA, died Sunday, December 25, 2016, at Good Shepherd Health Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2016, with a one-hour prior visitation at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd St SE, Mason City. Following the service, cremation will take place and an inurnment at Memorial Park Cemetery will be at a later date.

Bud was born on June 7, 1931, in Thornton, IA, to Barney and Frieda (Schroeder) Heitland. He attended schools in Thornton and was drafted into the Army at age 18.

On September 15, 1937, he was united in marriage to Mary (Taylor) Heitland. To their union 3 children were born. Throughout his life Bud worked as a butter maker for Atlantic Richfield in Cresco, IA, and later worked as a salesman for Carroll Sales.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Heitland of Mason City; children: Jeff (Sue) Heitland of Oelwein, IA, Sara (Bob) Matheus of Milwaukee, WI, and Dawn (David) Stolenberg of Mason City; grandchildren: Jess (Shala) Ballhagen, Matt (Jennifer) Heitland, Jenna (John) Guthrie and Jennifer (David) McCredy; one great-grandson, Riley Guthrie; and many other family and friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Frieda Heitland; parents-in-law, Jay and Eva Taylor; and brother-in-law, Keith Neal.
