June 18, 1926 - November 10, 2017Fern M. Bunting, 91, of Mason City, IA, died Friday, November 10, 2017, at the IOOF Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Dave Byrd – Chaplain, IOOF Home officiating. Interment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed in Fern’s memory to Helen Lack, P.O. Box 95, Rudd, IA 50471.
Fern was born June 18, 1926, in Lohrville, IA, the daughter of Herbert and Bernice (LaPlount) Border. She graduated from Lohrville High School in 1944. On November 22, 1945, she married Raymond E. Bunting in Britt, IA. Fern was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family. She also enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Fern is survived by her children: Wayne Bunting and wife Denise of Cookeville, TN, Helen Lack and husband James of Rudd, IA and Sharon Anderson and husband Alan of Mason City; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and 1 brother: Richard Border of Poway, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1978; 2 brothers: Victor Border and Herbert Border; and 1 sister: Faye Sollie.
