Elisha J. Bye, son of Lewis and Phoebe Bye, was born 12th Mo. 27, 1861, in Morgan county, Ohio.

He passed to his Heavenly Home 2nd Mo. 6th, 1928, after one week's illness of pneumonia, aged 66 years.

At the age of fifteen he came with his parents to Iowa. He united in marriage with Eva Doudna in 1883, and settled on a farm in the vicinity of West Branch. To this union two children were born, Alinda Bye of West Branch and Arthur L. Bye of Fort Madison, Iowa. He is also survived by his widow; two sisters, Anna Mott of Iowa City and Martha Mott of Pasadena, Calif., and many friends who will remember his cheerful disposition, and kind Christian influence.

He was a devoted husband, a kind and loving father, a good neighbor and according to his belief he had at heart the very best interest of the entire community.
