28 July 1904 - West Branch Times

Little Ruell Barnes sufferings were ended the night of July 16. Funeral services were held at the home Monday. In the last sad rites none but tender loving hands administered. The little body was not taken from the home to be cared for by the undertaker, as is customary here, but was cared for by those to whom he had been so precious and who had given themselves to his care so unreservedly during his long sickness. He was so sweetly resigned to die, trusting that he was going home to be with Jesus. Harry R. Keates, pastor of Friends church, preached the funeral sermon; Edith Chambers sang the sweet hymn, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." The casket was borne out by Walter R. Chambers, Herbert Chambers, Jesse and Fred Vore. Many old West Branch friends were present with love and sympathy for the bereaved parents and brother.

Transcribers note: This was taken from a letter from Emma T. Charles printed in the paper.
