20 March 1906 - The Tipton Advertiser

With the death of John B. Stubblefield comes the removal of another of our oldest citizens. He was born in Champaign Co. Ohio, November 15th 1827, and came to Iowa in 1842 when quite a young man. For many years he lived on his farm four miles east of Tipton. At an early period in life he was, together with his wife, associated with the Methodist Protestant church. As old age advanced and their children had left home to establish homes of there own they moved to Tipton acquiring property in the east part of town. Here Mrs. Stubblefield departed this life Dec. 2nd 1897. After several months of sickness and rapidly declining health hastened on by the sad death of his only son upon whom was he leaning during his old age, death came Friday morning March 9th. The deceased is survived by six daughters. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church Sunday A.M. and interment was at the Sheldon Cemetery five miles east of Tipton.
