Esther, daughter of John and Ann Heacock was born near Marlboro, Stark county, Ohio, 2nd month the 20th, 1855. Moved to Iowa with her parents the same year and settled in Cedar county, where she lived and grew to womanhood.

Was married to Lemuel W. Wren 4th of the 12th month, 1873, and has resided all her life here in this vicinity, except two years in Plymouth county, Iowa. To this union nine children were born, eight of whom are living: Myrtle Jackson of Minnesota; Carrie White, William and John Wren, who are living in this neighborhood; Nellie, deceased; Alda, Charles, Lera, Esther, still at home.

She was one of a family of twelve children, six of whom survive, four brothers and two sisters, Hannah Ward of Lakeside, Wash., Ellen Hair of Douglas, Wash., James of Kingsley, Edwin C. of Alaska, and R. C. and W. P. of West Branch.

She was a birthright member of the society of Friends and was always faithful and sincere in her belief. She was ever a cheerful and loving wife and mother and will be deeply mourned by all who knew her. She departed this life the 12th of the 11th month, 1911, at the age of 56 years, 8 months, 22 days.

The funeral services were held from the home conducted by Rev. Lackland of Oasis. Interment at Honey Grove.
