Elizabeth Blackledge Pickering was born in Belmont county, Ohio, March 7, 1829, being the eldest daughter of Samuel and Sarah Pickering. She was married to David Witter, March 11, 1875, in West Branch.

After several years residence in West Branch they removed to Kansas, where Mr. Witter died July 29, 1888, as the result of a sunstroke.

After Mr. Witter's death, Elizabeth Witter returned to West Branch and has made this her home ever since until the time of her death which occurred Monday morning abut 4:15 o'clock.

She is survived by two brothers, Wm. T. Pickering of Pekin and John P. Pickering of Vinton.

The funeral services were held from the Downey Street Friends church, at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Interment at West Branch cemetery.
