Abelone Johannlaud was born in Wigedahl, near Stavenger, Norway April 20, 1844 and died at her home in Montgomery County September 1, 1914 aged 70 years, 4 months, and 11 days.
In the year of 1870, she came to America and settled in Grundy County, Illinois, where in the same year she was united in marriage to Martin Marvin who survives her. Here they lived for three years when they moved to Adams County and later to Montgomery County where they resided until her death. Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her departure four sons and three daughters. They are Bert and Theodore of Villisca, Iowa; Edward of Emigrant, Montana; Jospeh of Carbon, Iowa; Mrs. Lewis Enarson and Mrs. Arthur Selley of Villisca, and Emma of Grant, Iowa. Two children preceded the mother in death, one in infancy and John died February 8, 1896.
The departed was a faithful and devoted mother and wife. Her pleasing disposition and cheerful personality have endeared her to many who now share with the family in their bereavement. Since coming to this community they have been members of the First Lutheran Church at Strand where the funeral services were held September 3 at 2:30 p.m. Interment was made in the Cemetery near by, Rev. E. O. Munkweld officiating, assisted by the pastor of the M. E. Church of Villisca.
