ATLANTIC. Population, 5,100. An incorporated city located on the Nishnabotna river and on the C., R. I. & P. and A., N. & S. Rys., in Cass county, of which it is the judicial seat. It is 60 miles northeast of Council Bluffs, 82 west of Des Moines and 440 west of Chicago, Ill. This is the trade center of a prosperous agricultural district and is supplied with 12 churches, excellent educational facilities, water works, fire department, opera house, 4 banks and 2 newspapers. There are several elevators, iron works, planing mill, canning factory, knitting factory, machine shops, creamery, etc. Ships grain, live stock, produce and canned goods. Tel., Postal and W. U.
