Kent R. "K.R." Richardson, 67, of Sioux City died Thursday, March 1, 2001, following lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Paul Sieveking officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery in Kingsley, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mr. Richardson was born Oct. 17, 1933, in Hudson, S.D., the son of Elmer and Nora (Torkelson) Richardson. He moved to Kingsley as a small child. He graduated from Kingsley High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Morningside College in 1970. He served in the U.S. Army from November 1954 to October 1956.

He married La Crete' Riemenschneider on Nov. 10, 1956, in Kingsley. He worked in retail paint sales for Pete Paint Company. He later worked for Iowa Public Service (now known as MidAmerica Energy) for 35 years in accounting, special projects department, as senior rate analyst, administrator of gas supply and planning.

He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and served as an elder, an usher, treasurer, and served on the building and long range planning committees. He was a member of Soo Puffers & Cresent square dance clubs, where he served as an officer.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Kerry Kent and Michele Richardson of Arlington, Texas, and Derek Don and Lisa Richardson of Sioux City; two brothers, Glenn and his wife, Bonnie Richardson of Coppell, Texas, and Bruce Richardson of Kingsley; a sister-in-law and her husband, Shirley and Chuck Dockett of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Cameron Shea, Justin Levi and Kody Kent Richardson; two step-grandchildren, Robert Dean Eric Michael Horkey; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Romaine Richardson.

Pallbearers will be Dick Christie, Harold Hanson, Everett Marsh, Jerry Seward, Phil Vondrak and Carl Weil.
