Mrs. Anna Johnson

Mrs. Anna Johnson, daughter of Knute and Julia Sevde, was born Jan. 8th, 1837, in Voss, Norway. She departed this life April 22,1927, at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 15 days.

The deceased was married to John Johnson, also of Voss, in the year 1856. In 1866 they moved with their young family to America and located in Story county on a farm south of Story City, which she still owned at the time of her death. She was a pioneer member of the St. Petri church.

After 54 years of wedded life death entered this household and on October 9, 1911, the husband passed away.

The departed was mother to five children, all of whom survive. They are Betsy Folger and Julia Askelson of Marshalltown, Knute of Story City, John and Nels of Hewitt, Minn.; also ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

The departed was making her home at the time of her death with her son John in Minnesota, where she received all the care that willing and loving hands could give her.

To a kind and ever loving mother, Farewell.

The funeral service was held in the St. Petri church Wednesday of last week, Rev. Heimarck of the Immanuel church officiating. The pall bearers were Mons and Lars Monson, F. D. Doolittle, M. B. Larson, Henry Jacobs and Halver Knutson.

Among those from a distance at the funeral were Dr. and Mrs. Hage and Mr. and Mrs. Knutson of Lake Mills, Lewis Hage and mother of Scarville, Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Johnson of Des Moines and Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Jacobson and sons Arthur and Martin of Duncombe.
