NEAR BROOKLYN

Brooklyn, IA. - Two persons died as a result of a two-car head-on collision on a Poweshiek County gravel road near here Sunday morning.

Ruth Cline, 50, a passenger in a car driven by her husband, Manus, 50, died at the scene. Cheryl Kriegel, 21, of rural Brooklyn died later Sunday at University Hospitals in Iowa City, where her husband, Laverne, 21, the driver of the second car, was listed in critical condition with multiple injuries.

Hospitalized in a Grinnell hospital with cuts, bruises and broken bones are Manus Cline and his children Mary, 16, Denise, 14, and Karen, 13.

The Iowa Highway Patrol said it is continuing its investigation of the accident.
