HANSON Dies

Joe S. HANSON, 301 W. Jefferson, died late this morning at the Ottumwa Hospital where he had been a patient since Tuesday (note: in Wapello Co., IA).

Last rites are pending at the Raymond Funeral Home.

HANSON was a long-time member of the engineering staff at the Louden Machinery Co. before his retirement.

Rites Set For HANSON

Joseph Samuel HANSON, 74, 301 W. Jefferson, died at 11:15 a.m. Friday at the Ottumwa Hospital where he had been a patient for three days. He had been in failing health for some time.

Last rites will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

HANSON was associated with the Iowa State Highway Commission as an engineer for approximately 28 years. From July 1, 1956, to November, 1970, he was employed as a design and development engineer at Loudens.

Joseph Samuel HANSON was born Oct. 26, 1899, in Becker County, Minn. He was the son of E.O. and Rebecca HALDING HANSON.

He was reared and educated in Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

His marriage to Inez WESTERING took place Nov. 14, 1936, at Lincoln, Neb. They moved to Fairfield the day after their marriage and except for a short time in Columbus Junction, Fairfield has been their home since.

Joe HANSON, as he was known by his many friends, was a member of B.P.O. Elks, 1192.

Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Julie, Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Edna HANSEN, Inverness, Fla., and Mrs. Alice CHRISTIANSEN, Cass Lake, Minn.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. The family would appreciate memorials to the Lung Association.
