The remains of John Ruth, who died in Lansing eighteen years ago were exhumed from their resting place in Oak Hill cemetery yesterday morning and taken to West Union, where they will rest beside those of his wife who died there some months since. An undertaker from that place was here superintending the removal.

--- ---

The body of John Ruth, who died here in 1867, was resurrected last Thursday and transferred to West Union. Mr. Ruth was the father of Miss Jennie Ruth, at one time a teacher in our schools, who afterward married Mr. Bushnell, and removed to West Union. Her husband died several years ago, but herself and her mother* still reside there.

Note:
A gravestone in Old Oak cemetery, Lansing, Allamakee county with the name John Ruth, has been turned upside down. The dates no longer visible. Perhaps the stone was turned symbolically, as a sort of cenotaph.

John Ruth was h/o Margaret A. (Clough) Ruth, who died in Aug. 1885. They have a large gravestone in the West Union cemetery.
