Dorothy R. Johnson, 74, of Aurelia died Thursday, Nov. 24, 1994, at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 26, 1994, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee with the Rev. Delmar Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia. Visitation will be today at the Wharton-Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.

Dorothy Rose Evans was born June 4, 1920, in Cherokee, Iowa to Oscar and Minnie Lutz Evans. She attended school in Cherokee and graduated from Wilson High in 1937. She then received her Normal Teaching Certificate from the Cherokee Teachers Institute. She worked at F. W. Woolworths and Leonard’s Dress Shop in Cherokee. On December 19, 1945, she married Conrad Melvin Johnson in Cherokee, making their home in Aurelia. To this union two daughters were born.

To mourn her death are her husband C. Melvin Johnson of Aurelia, two daughters: Candi Johnson of Rochester, Minn., and Debbie and her husband Bruce Banister of Independence, Missouri, a grandson: Scott Banister of Independence, Missouri; a brother: Fremont Evans and his wife Sylvia of Milwaukee, Wisc.; a sister-in-law: Fran Evans of Oregon City, Oregon.
