James Weldon “Weldon” Lewis was born Nov. 24, 1920 to Walter and Hazel Sausaman Lewis. He died Jan. 15, 2017. His body was donated to Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.

Petty Officer Lewis served as a combat corpsman attached to the Marines. He served as a front-line corpsman and battalion-aid station operating room technician during the invasions of Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian in the Pacific, helping save the lives of many young men.

Gilbert Ern “Shorty” Loudermilk was born Aug. 4, 1912 to Pleasant and Hattie Catherine Cohernour Loudermilk. He died June 18, 1947 and is buried in Saint Margaret Cemetery, Orleans, IA. 

Gilbert served in World War II.
