Added July 1904-June 1906 Birth Certificate Index for Shelby County courtesy of the State Historical Society of Iowa. From July 1904 to June 1906 state law required that birth certificates be filed with the State Department of Health and not with the counties. These handwritten records have been transcribed by the State Historical Society of Iowa, which has granted IAGenWeb permission to post them. Also added the complete Shelby County section from The Courts and Legal Profession (1907), which contains biographies of 3 early Shelby County lawyers. (10/22/17)

Added transcription of Chapter 13, Trade and Commerce, from the 1915 History of Shelby County. Also added part of Chapter 11 (Cities, Towns and Villages, Past and Present) and part of Chapter 16 (Protestant Churches in Shelby County) from the 1915 History (10/14/17)

Updated the Harlan Area Obituary Collection to begin adding index entries and links for approximately 4,200 additional older obituaries (1970-1986) contributed by Ray and Alice Buman. The additional "I" obituaries (1970-1986) are now online. Indexes to more of these 1970-1986 obits will coming in the next few weeks. Thanks to Ray and Alice for these wonderful contributions, and thanks to Denise for all her work indexing these additional obits! (9/15/2017)
