A modern and complete athletic field is planned for Mount Ayr if voters of the Mount Ayr school distric appove the proposal which will be submitted at the special election on June 14. Plans provide for an adequately lighted football field with good grass turf, bleachers for a good-sized crowd and a cinder track. A baseball field, satisfactorily lighted, is also being considered. This area of more than 10 acres is sufficient to provide ample parking space.

Eighth grade graduation exercises for a class of two -- Barbara Ann DUGAN and John Thomas WORTHINGTON -- were held Wednesday night of last week at Maloy.

Jim BURGE, proprietor of the Ben Franklin Store, was elected president of the Mount Ayr Lions Club at the regular meeting held last Wednesday. BURGE will succeed Jack ELLIOTT, who has capably served the club during the past year.

A dinner was served Monday evening in Mount Ayr in honor of Stuart W. HOOVER, secretary of the Ringgold County Fair for 18 years.

The senior class of the Tingley high school took a trip to Washington, D.C. In connection with their tour of the city, the group visited Congress and was welcomed by Congressman Karl M. LeCOMPTE of Corydon. The group included Mary Jane CLARK, Sue RICHARDS WOOD, Mary Sue PRITCHARD, Mrs. Russell BOYD (chaperon), Patricia HILL, Myrna ENGLAND, Mary Jane MINNICK, Donald DUKES, Jim JOBE, Hugh FERGUSON, Russell BOYD, Donald RICHARDS, Von TULL and Dean EIGHME. Gary BEAR was unable to accompany his classmates on the trip.
