Two Ringgold county girls will be in Cedar Falls on the University of Northern Iowa campus May 31 to June 7 as part of
the 35th session of the ALA Girls State. Jamie TRULLINGER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene TRULLINGER is the representative
of the Tingley American Legion Auxiliary. She is the 32nd girl to be sponsored by the Tingley unit. A junior at Mount
Ayr Community high school, she has participated in many of the school's extra curricular activities. Shelly REYNOLDS
is the representtive of Legion Auxiliary Post No. 172 of Mount Ayr. She is the daughter of Barbara REYNOLDS of
Kimberling, City, MO. She too is a Mount Ayr Community high school junior and is active in many school activities.
Recently when Pearl KOKESH sold her farm supply stock to Frank GUNSOLLEY of Des Moines, it marked the end of an era in
Diagonal. "Auntie Pearl," who will be 93 October 5, 1980, can't remember when she wasn't affiliated in some way with farm
machinery, parts and hardware. From the time her father sold furniture and hardware to this past week when she was still
waiting on customers at Kokesh Farm Supply on Diagonal's main street, she has been an integral part of the business
scene. But her stock is being packed up and moved down the street to be sold at the lumber yard. GUNSOLLEY, who is
returning to Diagonal, has purchased this from Kenneth MORROW, who is retiring. Mrs. KOKESH has kept the business going
all these years so Diagonal could have the hardward and farm supplies available to them.
