William WELLS resigned his position as night watch Friday and Mayor MILLER commissioned Bird GILLILAND to fill the vacancy.

William NEWTON traded his interest in the Lesan and Newton Restaurant on the north side of the square Saturday to his partner, W.A. LESAN, who will continue the business. The Messrs. LESAN and NEWTON recently purchased the restaurant from HALDEMAN & FULLER.

At the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John HERRINGTON, near Maloy on December 23, occurred the marriage of Merle HUFFMAN of Clearfield, and Mable HERRINGTON. A.W. MILLER, of Ottumwa, grandfather of the [omitted], of the ceremony, united the interests of two lives to be as one. Several of the guests had witnessed the marriage ceremony of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert HUFFMAN, parents of the groom by the same minister 22 years before.

Delt GREENELSH came Tuesday evening from King City, MO., to make arrangements preparatory to taking charge of the Mount Ayr Lumber Company's yard. Mr. GREENELSH takes the place of Charles MAPLE, who has managed the yard since its organization a few years ago. Albert SNETHEN will continue in the employ of the company as yardman and assistant manager.

BEACONSFIELD -- Curren LIPSETT began work this week in the barbershop of C.W. HAWK.

Raymond HARROLD is assisting at the Mount Ayr depot during the absence of Ralph WOOD, who is visiting with his brother, Earl WOOD, who is employed as bill clerk in the Burlington depot in Weston, MO.
