Bob RICKER, Jr. has accepted a position with Northern Telecom, Inc. in Raleigh, NC. His wife, Pam, will be employed at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Both are 1973 graduates of Mount Ayr Community high school. RICKER is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob RICKER, Sr. of Mount Ayr, and Mrs. RICKER is the daughter of Mrs. Charles JACKSON, formerly of Tingley. During the past 11 years he has been employed with Contel Telephone Company.

Letter winners of Mount Ayr Community Raiderettes returning for the new volleyball season include Lori KENTON, Joni YEAROUS, Becky DREDGE, Angie SMITH, Kim WILLIS, Diana NEWBY and Shelly TAYLOR.

Ron SICKELS of Mount Ayr again proved that he can stay with the best of the bicycle racers in the area at the Atlanticfest Bicycle race held in Atlantic August 24. SICKELS placed third among the 35 bicyclers who competed. His time for the 26-mile route was one hour 11 minutes.

One of the first Iowa lottery tickets to be sold in Ringgold county was purchased by Ringgold county Sheriff Lyle MINNICK when tickets officially went on sale for the first time Thursday noon. MINNICK bought his from Jake DAILEY. There are 11 businesses in Ringgold county licensed to sell the tickets.
