Mixed train service into Kellerton and Mount Ayr will be provided on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays effective the week of April 25, according to announcement by the C.B. & Q. Railroad Co. The same three-days-a-week service was formerly provided on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. The depots will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays and closed on Sundays and Mondays. A new schedule along the Chariton to Saint Joseph branch line is an economy move, eliminating one crew and one diesel engine. Two train crews and two diesels were formerly required to provde the service.

Marvin TRIGGS was nominated by the Iowa Association of F.F.A. to receive the American Farmer Degree at the state convention of FFA in Davenport. TRIGGS was one of 10 Iowa youths to receive the highest honors that can be won by an FFA member.

Tingley's first Market Day Sale will be held May 7 with the commissions to be used in defraying part of the expenses of members of the senior class on their proposed trip to Washington, D.C. Consignments will include livestock, machinery, hay and other articles.

E. E. CARR of Mount Ayr consigned the top yearling bull in the Southwest Iowa Hereford Association sale held last Wednesday at Shenandoah. The outstanding young herd bull prospect was sold to Am. C. ANSTEY, Massena, owner of one of Iowa's well known Hereford breeding establishments. The sale price was $450, which was $163 above the average of $287 on an offering of 48 bulls.

Eight ladies from Ringgold county this week completed the training course for Gray Ladies, a branch of the volunteer Workers of the American Red Cross. They are Mrs. B. WHITSON, Mrs. Roy COOPER and Mrs. Amos BUSH of Kellerton; Mrs. W. OVERHOLTZER and Mrs. Vienna RICHARDS of Tingley; and Mrs. H. WHITE, Mrs. Doyle ANDREWS and Mrs. Franklin SPURRIER of Mount Ayr.

License fees on 15 percent of the dogs in Ringgold county remain unpaided as of the date. The deadline for paying dog taxes without penalty is April 20, after which a penalty of $1 per dog will be added. Records compiled from reports of field assessors show a total of 1,215 dogs in the county: 968 males, 54 females and 193 spayed females.

Miss Arlene RICHARDS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arlo RICHARDS of Creston, and William SCOTT, son of Mrs. Cora PARRY of Mount Ayr, were united in marriage Saturday evening, April 24, the single-ring service being read by Justice of the Peace Ira MERRITT.
