Showing the top cow-calf pair at the Ringgold County Fair this year was Michelle DUGAN of Mount Ayr, a member of the Lotts Creek-Riley Rustlers.

The final week of practice is underway for the Musical Annie, the summer presentation by the Moonlighter Theatre Group in Mount Ayr.

Mount Ayr Community high school will have one student participating in the Southwest Iowa Honor Marching Band which will march at the Fiesta Bowl parade in Arizona on New Year's Day. Josh SMITH of Mount Ayr, who plays trombone, will be taking part in a three-day marching champ in Road Oak August 2-4 and then will march with the band, made up of top marching band students from across southwest Iowa, at the Iowa State Fair parade in Des Moines August 9. He is the son of James and June SMITH.

Three girls from the Mount Ayr Assembly, International Order of Rainbow for Girls, attended Grand School July 7-9 at the Cedar Falls Masonic Temple. Courtney CANNON, Grand Nature; Andrea TAYLOR, Grand Hope; and Julie ROUDYBUSH, Grand Executive, were instructed in the plans for the upcoming year.

A granddaughter of a Mount Ayr couple is featured on the cover of Embroidery Professional, a magazine headquartered in Des Moines which is distributed nationally to fabric and sewing stores. Bailee WEST, daughter of Mike and Carmen WEST of Des Moines is shown modeling a back-to-school jumper made of denim with embroidery, applique and decorative stitching. WEST is the granddaughter of Dick and Thelma SIMPSON of Mount Ayr and the great-granddaughter of Dale BLACK of Mount Ayr.
