Sharon LESAN of Benton won the title of queen Saturday following the parade, which was a highlight of the Ridiculous Days Celebration in Mount Ayr. Barbara SACKETT of Mount Ayr was first runner-up. Second and third runners-up, respectively, were Marie EURITT of Mount Ayr and Janet YASHACK of Diagonal.

Barton FRENCH, a science teacher in the Mount Ayr community schools, was declared the successor and winner of the title of "King of Ridiculous Days." Other candidates were W.A. MILLS and Ames CROSS.

Arnold and Connie BOLINGER, children of Mr. and Mrs. Weldon BOLINGER of Mount Ayr, won first over all in the children's division of the Ridiculous Day parade. Their "float" was entitled "When You and I Were Young, Maggie."

Lawrence ZARUBA of Diagonal, Rowe T. DENNY of Redding and Noel BOLES of Grand River were re-elected directors of the Ringgold Mutual Insurance Association during the annual meeting of the association held September 21.

Approximately 80 equestrians enjoyed a trail ride, sponsored by the Ringgold County Saddle Club, and held Sunday on the farms of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. BISHOP and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil ADAMS. Participants in the ride were from Mount Ayr, Diagonal, Creston, Afton, Kellerton, Tingley, Benton and Grnt City and Hatfield, MO.

Lester HICKMAN of West Des Moines assumed his duties Monday as pharmacist in Horne's Rexall Store in Mount Ayr, announcement of which has been made by Bill HAROVER, owner of the store. Mr. HICKMAN and wife Shirley are residing in the residence property of Mrs. Sylva MOFFETT located at 504 N. Pierce.

New 1964 Ramblers will be displayed Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Smith Motors on Highway 169 in east Mount Ayr.

  • September 25, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Ivan STEPHENS, Clearfield
