Forty-three years of employment with Iowa Southern Utilities will come to a close March 1 for Leroy BLESSMAN of Mount Ayr. BLESSMAN'S association with Iowa Southern Utilities has been one of mutual benefit. They have had his service as area operating supervisor in the Mount Ayr office since 1968. This office serves 16 towns in Ringgold, Taylor and Decatur counties.

The insurance company considered the farm residence near Beaconsfield "totaled" after a 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, fire destroyed the two-story, four-bedroom frame house in which the Bill and Angie HYNEK family lived. They HYNEK family, which includes Joe, 10; Amy, six and Amanda, two, were renting from Bill's father-in-law, Virgil PERRY of Shenandoah. The place is located on the east side of Sun Valley Lake.

Service awards were recently presented to six staff members of the Mount Ayr Products division of Iowa Assemblies. Five-year service awards were presented to Terry BARNES, Annette EAKES, Jane PARKHURST, Theresa WALLER, Margaret SHIELDS and Ronda MARTIN.

It's on to state of wrestlers Cody SHAY and Scott ENGLAND. The Raider co-captains secured their state tickets Saturday when SHAY claimed the 130-pound district title, while ENGLAND surged to the 135-pound championship at the Class 1-A District Wrestling Tournament at Guthrie Center. ENGLAND also qulified for state last year as a 126-pound sophomore.
