Veronica Ray, Mount Ayr

A reception for the senior girls of the Mount Ayr high school was given Wednesday evening of last week in the home of Mrs. Easterly NELSON, with members of the local branch of the American Association of Univeristy Women as hostesses. Miss Joan SHEIL, valedictorian of the 1952 graduating class, was presented a gift in recogniton of her scholastic rating.

Promotion exercises for 33 eighth grade graduates of Ringgold county will be held May 24 in the high school auditorium in Mount Ayr. Graduates include:

Union township -- Marilyn GERMAN; Jefferson township -- Kenneth JOHNSON, Richard SWARTZ; Lincoln township -- Calvin PARKER, Linda GOODALE, Virginia REED, Mary CARSON, Lyndon DAVENPORT, Jack TAYLOR; Grant township -- Floyd GAULE, Margie BOLINGER; Washington township -- John CAMPBELL, Marlin RICKER, Rodetta PAYNE; Monroe township -- Gary NIEDT, Lyman WALKER II, Peggy DUFTY; Liberty township -- Shirley BENSON, Robert BENNETT, Hyatt RICE, Marlene BRABY, Louise FARIS; Athens township -- Leslie REED, Arvid HUGHES; Poe township -- Alan MINNICK, Bernie LANE, Gary WELLS; Middle Fork township -- John FLETCHER; Lotts Creek township -- Jerry HAIGLER, Junior WION; Riley township -- David DeBARTHE, Marian HEIDI, and Otho GRAHAM.

Miss LaVon SCOTT, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack SCOTT of Tingley, and Raymond PINE, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville PINE of Diagonal, were united in marriage Saturday morning, May 17 at ten o'clock in the Christian church in Diagonal.

Maloy ~ A beautiful and impressive ceremony of the Crowning of the statue of the Blessed Virgin Queen of May will take place Sunday, May 25 after Mass in the Immaculate Conception church. The entire group of children will march through the main aisle and place flowers at the foot of the statue. The queen will be Miss Carol SHAY, who will place a wreath of flowers on the head of the statue, and her escort and cousin, Donald SHAY, will carry the crown.

BIRTHS REPORTED FROM RINGGOLD COUNTY HOSPITAL:

  • May 19, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Eugene PARMAN, Mount Ayr
  • May 20, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Virgil HOWIE, Grant City MO
  • May 21, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Bernard DUFTY, Kellerton
