While official notification of his appointment as postmaster at Mount Ayr has not been received by J.A. McNerney, announcement that President Wilson has apponted him to the position was published in the Chicago papers a few days ago. The term of Postmaster James Beard, who has served faithfully for twelve years, expired yesterday. He will continue to serve in the office until his successor receives his credentials.

KELLERTON - Ernest Manning and T. C. Higgins have traded for a restaurant at Grant City, MO, and took possession last week.

C. E. French has purchased the J. W. Wilson stock of general merchandise and will conduct the business at the same place.

Anna Webb has accepted a position at the Globe office.

The new victrola is now installed in the schoolhouse and the pupils are enjoying it immensely.

Charles Kramer, the new instructor for the Kellerton band, arrived Tuesday evening from Kansas City, MO.

CROWN POINT - The M.E. Choir at Eureka was entertained at a supper Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lucas.

SHANNON CITY - The corn show held Friday was a success. The school children had a large exhibit of corn, oats, wheat, rye, vegetables, maps, booklets and fancywork.

MIDDLE FORK - Christian Church: The pastor was glad last Lord's Day for the sanction given by the people to his plea for Christian people to keep clear of dancing, card playing and all kindred evils. These things seem to especially threaten right now since they are not being sanctioned and introduced by the young people so much as by the mothers and other people of influence. Many of us remember a time when there was much card playing in Mount Ayr, but it wasn't done by the wives and mothers. They were wringing their hands and praying in agony that the curse might be lifted from their husbands, brothers and sons. - L. C. Swan.

MIDDLE FORK - Mr. and Mrs. Floyd McHenry are rejoicing over the arrival of a new son that came to gladden their home last week.
