Earl Horne left Sunday morning for Minneapolis, MN., where he will be employed as [a] clerk in one of the drug stores in that city. Earl has been a popular clerk in the Red Cross Pharmacy during his
junior and senior years in high school. He is an industrious young man of good habits and will make good.
Traffic Policeman Bird Gilliland reports that 11 automobiles, 54 buggies, and 17 saddle horses occupied places around the square for the band concert presented Wednesday evening.
Thomas Teale, of Leon, and his sons, Fred Teale, of Leon, and Bert Teale, of this city, have purchased the controlling interest in the C. S. Stearns State Bank at Garden Grove. The Teales
now have banks at Leon and Lamoni, transacted Saturday whereby Mr. and Mrs. Ben Day, of Grand River, now have charge of the Geo. A. Dickson store.
CLEARFIELD - The Rev. M. O. McKenzie and family moved Thursday to Murray. The Rev. C. M. Rowe and family moved the same day from Panora to Clearfield, where he will have charge of the
Methodist pastorate.
KELLERTON - Charles Jackson will leave Monday for Iowa City where he will attend summer school. Mr. Jackson has been elected principal of the high school at Cresco, and expects to move there
about the first of September.
LIBERTY and MONROE - L. J. Rice has accepted a position with Dodd & Struthers, owners and manufacturers of the Dodd system of lightning protection in Des Moines and is at present located in
Sioux Falls, SD.
TINGLEY, Monefay Hanson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hanson, who was elected to teach in the Ellston school next year, has resigned to accept a better position as fifth
grade teacher at Dow City.
BIRTHS
SHADY GROVE - Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Foster are the proud parents of a little daughter, born June 3.
KNOWLTON - Bert Johnston and wife are the proud parents of a baby boy, born June 15.
REDDING - A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Denney on June 17. He weighed eight pounds and has been named Larry Wayne.
