The Ringgold County boards have received members following acting taken by the supervisors at a meeting held Tuesday, Dec. 18.

Bill ANDERSON, DVM, has been appointed to a new three-year term on the Ringgold County board of health. ANDERSON had been filling out an unexpired term of Joe RIVERA and now had been appointed to a new term. Reappointed to the board for a three-year term was Harold COOPER of Ellston. They join other members - Ora FUGATE of Kellerton, David JENNINGS of Ellston and Dr. Duane MITCHELL

Three named to the Ringgold County Social Services board were Doris KLEJCH of Diagonal, Norma WALLACE STRINGHAM and Barton ABARR of Redding. These are for one-year terms.

Two Ringgold county residents, Doyle TRULLINGER and Bea McGINNIS have been appointed as members of the newly formed Area 14 Regional Transit Authoriy Advisory Council.

Mrs. Lester (Thelma) GRIMES will retire at the end of 1979 as deupty in the Ringgold County auditor's office. She began work there in May of 1969. She and her husband plan to continue living in Mount Ayr. Hired to take her place is Mrs. Kenneth (Norma) CREVELING of Mount Ayr, who begins her new job in January. Others in the office include the auditor, Mrs. Susie CORLL and Mrs. Harold (Elosie) BROWN of Tingley.

About 65 guests attended the retirement dinner and party last Saturday evening, Dec. 15, at the Lakeshore Golf & Country Club at Afton in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Rolland POWELL. Rolland began working with the highway commission in October 1951 as an operator. In May 1963 Rolland was promoted to equipment operator to which was followed by another promotion to his present position, highway maintenance supervisor two, in April 1971. Rolland was responsible for the maintenance and repair of all the primary highways in Ringgold county.

An electrical fire in a fuse box caused little damage at Mount Ayr Clearview Nursing Home when it broke ou about 1:35 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14. There was a small amount of harm done to the fuse box.

  • December 12, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Steve MOYER, Parnell MO
  • December 14, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Neil TOLAND, Mount ayr
  • December 15, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Dennis RYAN, Lamoni
  • December 17, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Robert CONKLIN, Redding
