RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, December 19, 2002

Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr Record-News

More than 40 entries took part in the lighted Christmas parade which kicked off an evening of Christmas activity on the Mount Ayr square Saturday night. Parade marshals were Keith and Beth WHITSON of Beaconsfield, parents of astronaut Dr. Peggy WHITSON. Top floats in the parade were the entries by Wellman Dynamics of Creston, U. S. Bank and Southwest builder Supply.

Three Ringgold county groups were among the 29 groups from across the area awarded grants for the fourth semi-annual distribution of the Clarke County Development Corporation's share of revenues from Lakeside Casino Resort [Osceola]. Receiving grants this time were the Mount Ayr Little League, Ringgold County Conservation Board and Ringgold County Teen Center.

Senior Ringgold County Hospital board members Dick JACKSON and Randy McDONNELL were honored with plaques recognizing them for their 18 years of serving on the board of trustees. Both were elected in 1984 to their first term as trustees, then were re-elected to two more consecutive terms.
