All the new certified staff members in the Mount Ayr Community school district will be at the elementary school this year. They include guidance counselor Brenda WOOD, special education teacher Loralei HESS and special education teacher Tina LEATHERS. Also new will be elementary principal Tyler WILLIAMS.

Larry GILES, retired elementary school principal at Mount Ayr Community elementary school, was recognized as a retiring administrator by the School Administrators of Iowa at the association's annual awards banquet in Des Moines recently.

The son of a Mount Ayr resident has recently been named an assistant curator at the Peabody Museum in Boston, MA. Jeff CARR, son of Sherry POOLE of Fonda and Tom CARR of Mount Ayr, has recently been named to the position. He is also the grandson of Sam and Iris OSBORN of Mount Ayr.

Brandon YODER picked up anothr post-season honor this week when he was named to the Class 2A all-state first team by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. The son of Brett and Debbie YODER of Mount Ayr, he will be attending Graceland College in Lamoni on a football and baseball scholarship this fall.
