Jane KINNE, daughter of the Donald R. KINNES of Tingley and a junior in the Mount Ayr Community high school, has received word that her application for participation in the Third Annual Summer Science Program at the State University of Iowa, Iowa City, has been reviewed favorably by the selection committee. Jane will participate in the areas of mathematics and geology for an eight weeks' session.

Friends and neighbors took disks, harrows and a seeder Saturday afternoon to the farm of Carl DeVRIES in Liberty township and planted 20 acres of oats for Mr. DeVRIES, who has been a patient in the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Those who assisted with the "good neighbor" deed were Algie LINK, Max WEBB, Glenn MYERS, Amos RYAN, Lee FARIS, Cecil KELLER, John TRIGGS, Aubrey KIRKPATRICK and Bert JONES.

Mrs. Raymond BARKER and Harold WEBB announce the sale of half interest in the Mount Ayr Roller Rink to Lloyd GLENDENNING, who serves as bookkeeper at Harvey Brothers Garage.

The Night Owls, one of two teams entered by the junior class was the winner of the intra-mural volleyball tournament held April 13 in Mount Ayr. Captained by Jerry WAUGH, the Night Owls defeated the Bear Killers, captained by David STILL, to take the championship. Members of the winning team were WAUGH, Larry KNIGHT, Dean HALL, Larry BOLTON, Dan MINNICK, Phil FAY, Richard STEPHENS and Howard MERCER.

Mrs. Howard TODD left Thursday from Chicago, IL by Lufthansa Jet Airlines for Germany, for a visit wither her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August FRIEDRICHS, and other relatives in Neuenknick, Westfalen, Germany. This will be Mrs. TODD'S first visit with her parents since she came to America in 1927.

Susie HUNT, junior in the Mount Ayr Community high school and president-elect of the local chapter of F.B.L.A., was elected to the office of state reporter during the 16th annual state convention of Future Business Leaders of America held Friday on the campus of the State College of Iowa in Cedar Falls.

Richard WEEHLER, senior in the Mount Ayr Community high school, received the coveted Iowa Farmer Degree during the Friday morning ceremonies of the state F.F.A. convention in the main auditorium on the Dairy Cattle Congress grounds in Waterloo. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee WEEHLER of Clearfield.

Mount Ayr Assembly, Order of the Rainbow for Girls, received its charter from Mrs. Grace B. SPRECHER of Denison during the regular meeting of the Assembly held Monday night. Mount Ayr, the 160th Assembly in Iowa to be chartered, will carry the number 160.
