Prof. E. W. Brooks reports a new addition to his band. He has secured John McNeish, of Des Moines, who is a flute and piccolo soloist and formerly played with the Seattle Symphony and Concert Orchestra. Mr. McNeish is also an expert cigar maker and will be employed in Mr. Brook's cigar factory.

John Corman and George Wells have formed a partnership and are prepared to do all kinds of plastering, brick and cement work.

Mrs. J. N. Dalton has rented the old German Hotel owned by Ed Blauer. It will be refurnished and turned into a rooming house. The Daltons now own both hotels in the city and will run both on a first-class order.

The Logan Hotel, which was recently damaged by fire, was bought by Walter Lamb and he is moving it to the east part of the city. The house was raised on skiis and then hooked on to a big Rumley steam tractor belonging to Orville Wood and pulled through the streets.

James Lawhead, son of County Treasurer and Mrs. R. A. Lawhead, of this city, who is a member of the sophomore class in Monmouth College, is one of the representatives of his college in a track meet today in Des Moines.

SHADY GROVE - Hugh Burchett and Gladys Reynolds were united in marriage at Mount Ayr on Wednesday.

REDDING - In the spelling contest held Monday evening, Pearl Harris was the best speller and Verna Jennings next best.

KELLERTON - N. B. Robbins, for several months past manager of the Double Tread Tire Company here, plans to leave in a few days to take charge of an aviation school on the Mexican border. The school is planned to instruct volunteers for the Amercian service at the expense of the Aero Club of America. The government has ordered 32 machines, but at present, Europe is demanding the entire output of American factories.

DIAGONAL - S. A. Woods, who has been in the employ of the J. I. Case Company, recently resigned his position and has accepted a position as traveling salesman for the Russell Grader Company of Minneapolis.

Elder and Mrs. Kelley Campbell are the proud parents of a fine little son, who has been named Daniel Emil.
