Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
December 14 & December 17, 1915

by Chanse Wilson, Mount Ayr Record-News

J. E. Williams, of Knowlton, recently became owner of the J. P. Lambert building on Main Street. He will build on to the building and put in an up-to-date garage.

J. A. Williams received last week a letter from the Chicago tailoring house to which he sends his orders for made-to-measure clothing advising him that he had won the iron cross offered by the company to the merchant whose orders indicated the most efficiency in taking measurements.

D.D. Dolecheck has employed Bertha Hamilton, of Tingley, to take Bessie Thomson's place in his store.

Don Stites is now working in the Progress office.

The dedication services at the Baptist Church on Sunday were a success in every way. Over 700 attended the evening service and tested to the full seating capacity of the church. Fully $11,250 were pledged or paid at the morning and afternoon service, which will cover the cost of construction and furnishing. With the amount pledged last spring and winter, there was been an offering of over $23,000 for the building enterprise. The value of the new building is $19,500.

"The Night Hawks" is a new club that was recently organized by the school teachers and several other young ladies in town. They were entertained Monday evening by Esther Davis.

C. Rany Moore has rented the N. B. Robbins garage and will use it for a seed house.

This year Mount Ayr will have a municipal Christmas tree which will be paid for by the businessmen and other interested persons. A treat will be provided for the kiddies and all who wish to do so may place presents on the tree.
