During a recent meeting of the Village Improvement Society, the name of "Woodland Park" was selected for Mount Ayr's new park. The cable for the new trolley will be received in a few days and all equipment will be furnished. The society will appoint a committee of men to inspect the play apparatus and pass on its safety.

Fred Ellston went Thursday morning to Grant City, MO. where he will work in a barbershop.

G. W. Marts, proprietor of the city meat market, is putting screens, which run to the ceiling, around the counters. This is quite an improvement to the shop and also a protection from flies.

The town council has appointed Merritt Hayes as clerk of the city to take the place made vacant by the serious illness of J. N. Lineburg.

Bird Gilliland has been appointed special police to take the place of a city marshal and keep the streets around the square cleaned. He proposed that traffic shall be properly regulated and is having a sign made for each corner of the square indicating to automobile drivers that they must keep on the right side of the street.

Wednesday evening marked one of the best concerts of the season. The band was at its best and strengthened by late arrivals in the city, one of whom, Grant Hayes, who plays clarinet, played for the first time this season. He is a member of the Iowa State University band and an exceptionally good clarinet player.

Rebecca Mars, of Cainsville, MO. and Ira Foster, of this place, were united in marriage June 14, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Mosbarger, the groom's sister. Rev. Campbell, the Apostolic minister, officiated. They will go to housekeeping at once on the groom's father's farm a mile east of town.

At a meeting of the Mount Ayr school board, the following teachers were elected: N. E. Schupback, high school principal; Lena Ogden and Vesta Merritt, high school teachers; Eleanor Welch, departmental; Beatrice Carson, third grade; and Ethel Curtis, of Des Moines, first grade.

KELLERTON - Mr. and Mrs. Jack Green are the proud parents of a fine little son, born to them on June 11.
