RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, October 12 & 15, 1915

by Chanse Hall, Mount Ayr Record-News

The garage, formerly owned by T. C. REYNOLDS and which was sold last week to Hammond & Son, of Des Moines, again changed hands yesterday. Combs & Hall, who conduct a garage at Allendale, MO., purchased the property, immediate possession being given.

One of the most pleasing events of the season occurred in the beautiful country home of Mr. and Mrs. Frazier BURDETTE on the evening of October 14, in the marriage of their daughter, Ethel, to Burr NEWTON. In the presence of sixty guests, mostly relatives, they were united in marriage by L. C. SWAN, pastor of the Church of Christ in Mount Ayr. Mr. NEWTON is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. NEWTON, of Washington township and is known as one of the progressive and prosperious young farmers of Ringgold county. They will make their home on a farm near Mount Ayr.

KELLERTON - Dr. H. E. BROWN of Peoria, IL., arrived here Monday morning and is fixing up an office and rooms in the old Kellerton House.

HIGH SCHOOL NOTES - A boys' glee club was organized Friday evening and has had two practices since then. There will also be a girls' glee club this year.

New "discipline" cards have come into use by the teachers in the schools and they intend to keep track of a pupil from the time he comes into the building until he leaves it the last thing at night.

BIRTHS

  • KELLERTON - Mr. and Mrs. Cecil JACKSON are rejoicing over the arrival of a little son at their home on October 4.
  • KELLERTON - Mr. and Mrs. Frank CHANDLER are the proud parents of a little son, born to them on October 12.
  • WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - Mr. and Mrs. Roy MILLER of Washington township are the happy parents of a son, born October 13.
  • MOUNT AYR - A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. John WILSON on October 10.
