Three members of the Mount Ayr Future Farmers of America chapter were named to receive the Iowa Farmer degree and chapter members received top honors in several other areas at the district contest held Friday in State Center. The three Iowa Farmer Degree candidates, Tom KRAMER, Roger DOLECHECK and Darwin CAMPBELL, were selected to receive the degree. KRAMER, a 1980 graduate of MACHS, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob KRAMER of Pratt, KS. DOLECHECK, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan DOLECHECK of Kellerton, is a senior at MACHS, and CAMPBELL, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald CAMPBELL of Shannon City, is also a senior here. This is the first time since 1970 that the chapter has had three Iowa Farmers in the same year.

A semi truck hit a parked car on the Mount Ayr square and a pickup hit a calf in two accidents in Ringgold county this past week. A 1979 Ford semi, owned by Monarch Food Service and driven by Martin Joseph BUSSANMAS of Norwalk, struck a parked 1973 Olds Custom Cruiser owned by Douglas John MACKIE of rural Indianola that was parked on Madison street in front of Small Corrall in an accident at 8 a.m. March 5. The semi was turning west on Madison Street from Taylor Street and turned short, hitting the parked car as the driver tried to avoid a car in the line of traffic.

In an accident at 8 p.m. the same day, a 1980 Chevrolet pickup driven by Quentin Verl ANDERSON of Ellston received $400 damage when it hit a black white-faced calf owend by Lee CREVELING on J-20, one and one-half miles northwest of Ellston near the Clyde JOHNSTON residence. Loss of the calf was listed at $400. ANDERSON was traveling west on J-20 when the accident occurred.

It was Bob SMITH'S final full day in the barbershop here and friends wished him good luck with a party Friday. He has accepted a position with an area bank and will only open his shop at night.
