RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, June 12, 1991

by Chanse Hall, Mount Ayr Record-News

A dedication ceremony for the new Boone Woods conservation area managed by the Ringgold County Conservation Board will be held Saturday, June 15. The Boone Woods area is a 311 acre site, most of which is timber, located southwest of Redding.

John Morgan, nationally known wrestler, visited with Mount Ayr Community area elementary students Tuesday during the summer sports camp held for youngsters in fourth through sixth grades at the high school.

An encounter with a mother cow in a field near Mount Ayr this week resulted in injuries to two people. Ken Campbell and his two-year-old son Tyler were checking on cattle owned by Doyle Campbell of Mount Ayr. They came too close to a mother with a new calf and she charged Campbell and his son. They were knocked to the ground and the cattle stepped on both until they could reach safety under a pile of fallen trees waiting for the cow to give up.
