Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, December 7, 2000

Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

A Mount Ayr resident's body was discovered in the bottom of a well on an abandoned farm near Eagleville, Missouri, this week. The body of Larry WHITE, 39, who was last seen alive in Mount Ayr in early November, was recovered from the well by authorities in Harrison County, Missouri. An autopsy showed that WHITE died of a gunshot wound to the chest. Charged in the killing of her former husband is Pamela S. WHITE FOLEY, 40, of Ridgeway, Missouri.

The tank of an air compressor exploded in a machine shed at the home of Gary and Darla SOBOTKA of rural Mount Ayr Sunday morning, doing a good deal of damage but not injuring anyone.

Warrne ANGUS of Mount Ayr received the Ringgold County Farm Bureau recognition award at the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) annual meeting in Des Moines recently. Ed WIDERSTEIN, IFBF president, made the presentation to ANGUS, who is the county Farm Bureau voting delegate.

Sharon KINNEY, a nine-year-old fourth grader from Redding, has been named an honorable mention winner in the National Rifle Association's annual youth wildlife art contest for the year 2000. KINNEY'S entry was a pen drawing of deer. Her creativity and artistic ability earned her a check for $25.

Earning the honorary title of "colonel," Justin James AKERS of rural Kellerton has graduated recently from the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City.
