Kasey Dredge, Mount Ayr Record-News

Students in the three Ringgold County area school districts went back to school Wednesday, August 25 in Mount Ayr, Diagonal and Clearfield. The Mount Ayr Community school plans were to gather around the school flag pole for all of the students to share in the pledge of allegiance to begin the first school day. Stormy weather meant that the opening ceremony has to be postponed until Thursday morning, but all the 354 students gathered then for the special ceremony, along with Ringgold Sheriff Bob BENNETT.

Tanner RINEHART has graduated from the NASCAR Technical Institute, a division Universal Technical Institute at Morresville, NC. Tanner is the sone of Lynn and Kathy RINEHART of Mount Ayr.

Big pass plays set up all the scoring of the night when the Mount Ayr Community Raidersand Nodaway Valley Wolverines opened the 2004 football season in Mount Ayr Friday night. Two of these big plays led to Nodaway Valley scores and only one for the Raiders as the MAC squad fell 14-7 to the Class 2A conference rivals from the north.

A strong Raider cross country team is expected to take the field for the first time today along with some good Riderette runners, but not enough to make a complete girls team.
