Mount Ayr will have a winning baseball team this season. That is the hope that is being handed out by those who attended a meeting held in E. W. Brook's cigar factory Wednesday evening. During the meeting, E. W. Brooks was elected manager and Asa Hargis was elected assistant manager and Captain H. H. Wilson is willing to furnish grounds on his farm adjoining the city on the east, which will be an ideal location for a ball park.

The marriage of Helen Moore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Moore, of Beaconsfield, and Edgar Orr Allen, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Allen, was solemnized at Des Moines on April 26, by the Rev. E. Durant of the M. E. Church at his residence. They arrived here Thursday evening and will go to housekeeping at once on the Ervin farm north of town where the groom has everything ready.

Members of Mount Ayr Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, enjoyed a social evening recently in the Masonic Hall. A diversified program of music and readings was given and those who appeared were Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Allyn, Esther Luce, Vern Teale, Murice White, Lova Thompson, Reba Roberts, Lee Timby, Georgia Allyn, Sue Timby, Bernice Hannelly and Esther Fuller.

Perry Ellis went Wednesday morning to Phoenix, AZ. He lately traded his land in North Dakota for land near there and goes to take charge of it.

The second annual May Day was held Friday afternoon. The May queen, Eva Wood, was carried in her sedan chair from the schoolhouse to the Laughlin grove by Earl Horne, Roe Main, Harry Spurrier and Ernest Tenant, preceded by the high school girls' chorus and trumpeters - Joe Bretz and John Poor. Emma Leply, the queen's attendant, crowned Miss Wood queen of the May. It was estimated that from 700 to 800 persons were present for the event.

DIAGONAL - The Smith Realty Company, of Kansas City, has purchased ten acres from E. R. Pine and laid it off in town lots and will sell them at auction on May 10. Diagonal is an enterprising little city and this spring there have been erected fourteen new residences and two new business houses.

KELLERTON - Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wilson are rejoicing over the arrival of a fine little son, born to them Wednesday.
