A. H. TEALE

A[lbert] H. TEALE, junior partner of the firm of J. E. TEALE & Brother, was born in Ohio, January 22, 1852, son of Frederick TEALE whose sketch appears elsewhere in this volume. When he was two years of age his parents removed to Jo Daviess County, Illinois, near Warren. Here Mr. TEALE passed his early life, assisting on the farm, and receiving his education in the common schools of that county.

In 1862 they came to Decatur County, and engaged in farming one year in Decatur Township. He then removed to Fayette Township, where he resided two years, thence to New Buda Township.

In 1874 Mr. TEALE engaged in the lumber business with his brother, J[ames] E. TEALE. In 1879 he removed to Kellerton, coming before the town was named. Their stone building was the first business house erected. They carry a large stock of goods, consisting of dry-goods, boots and shoes, hats and caps, clothing, staple and fancy groceries, and a full line of hardware. They started the first lumber years in the town, which is now owned by A. H. TEALE.

He was married January 1, 1871, to Miss Frances LEACHMAN, of New Buda Township, and they have four children - Clarence, Harvey, Katy and Estella.

Mr. TEALE is a member of Kellerton Lodge, No. 425, I. O. O. F. Politically he is a Republican, and numbered among the solid business men of Kellerton.

NOTE: Albert H. TEALE died on November 2, 1924 and was interred at Maple Row Cemetery, Kellerton, Ringgold County, Iowa. Mary "Frances" (LEACHMAN) TEALE was born January 1, 1853, and died March 13, 1901 with interment at Maple Row Cemetery, Kellerton. Harvey L. TEALE, son of Albert H. and Frances (LEACHMAN) TEALE, was born in 1879, and died in 1952 with interment at Maple Row Cemetery, Kellerton.
