GREEN-HARRIS WEDDING

April 12, 1906

On Tuesday morning, March 27, 1906, Miss Ada Emilie Harris and Mr. Fred Augustus Green were united in marriage at the Methodist Episcopal church.

At eight o�clock to the wedding march from Lohengrin, played by Miss Iva Bruce, the wedding procession entered the church. From the vestibule the groom preceded by the ushers, Mr. W. B. Bruce and Mr. Howard Kern and by the best man, Mr. Earl B. Blair, passed to the altar. The bridal procession then entered passing down the center aisle. First came the four maids in twos, Miss Hallie Sullivan, Miss Genevieve Taubman; Miss Irene Schfield, Miss Maud Gable; then the pillow bearers, Lucy and Gladys Johnson, next the maid of honor, Miss Maude Harris, with the ring bearer, Master Parker Lyman, and then the bride on her father�s arm. The beautiful ring service was then performed by the Rev. Mr. J. L. McLaughlin, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Sanford.

After the ceremony, Mr. And Mrs Green received from 8:30 to 10:30 at the home of the bride�s parents Mr. and Mrs. Clark W. Harris.

The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. And Mrs. C. W. Harris and is a young lady of rare natural gifts.

She is a graduate of Cornell College and it was there she met the man who has won her heart and hand.

The groom is a native of Osage and a young man of fine ability, integrity and honor and will prove himself a worthy husband of a worthy wife.

Their new home will be at Litchville, North Dakota.

 

STREHLOW - SCHULTE WEDDING

Osage News June 13, 1895

An important social event occurred at Mitchell Wednesday evening of last week, at the Congregational church, being the marriage of Hubert R. Strehlow, of Castelton, North Dakota, and Miss Della Schulte, daughter of Henry Schulte, According to the local paper, "the bride looked charming in a gown of cream gloria silk, the customary veil and white carnation flowers. White costumes and roses were worn by the bridesmaids. After the ceremony the bridal party repaired to the Schulte residence at the head of Mill Street, where the reception was held, congratulations received and a princely banquet given, which was relished by over 200 guests.

The Mitchell Cornet Band, was in attendance and discoursed appropriate music on the lawn several times during the evening. After midnight the Young Men�s Orchestra gave several fine selections. The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schulte, and a young lady esteemed by all for sterling qualities of good sense and ladylike accomplishments. She enters her new and elegant home at Casselton with all the dear and womanly qualities looked for in the model housewife. The groom is a young man of splendid character, a pharmacist by profession and a member of the enterprising drug firm of Meredith & Strehlow, at Casselton, North Dakota. He has built a nice residence there, which has been elegantly furnished by the bride�s parents.

The happy couple leave, with the good wishes of a host of friends, for their new home Monday, intending to stop two days in St. Paul."

 

OLSON - ELIASON WEDDING

Matrimonial.

That was a society event of very great interest, which occurred at the Rock Creek Lutheran church yesterday afternoon, uniting in the holy bonds of wedlock, two of the most prominent young people of that community.

The ceremony, which among Norwegians includes an address to the couple, was performed by Rev. Sigrud Olsen, of St. Ansgar, in the presence of about 200 invited guests. After the exercises at the church were completed the company repaired to the home of the bride�s parents where they partook of a bounteous dinner provided for the occasion. Then came amusements of various kinds, the festivities being continued far into the night.

The groom is Mr. J. G. Olson, a prosperous young farmer of Cedar township, in which he was born about thirty years ago, being the second son of Levi Olsen, the first settler in that part of the county. He is a young gentleman of high character, steady habits and great industry.

The bride is Miss Emma Eliason, the eldest daughter of C. Eliason, who is a well-to-do farmer of that community. She is an accomplished young lady and is a great favorite among her associates. She is also a native of Cedar township. The newly married couple will settle down to housekeeping in the southern part of Rock township where the many presents they received will help to beautify and adorn their home. THE NEWS joins with their other friends in extending sincere congratulations.

OSAGE — A home in Osage being established by Dean Penney and his bride, the former Miss Joan Carol Markham. They were married Saturday afternoon in Sacred Heart Church.

The bride, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Markham, is employed by Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. Her husband's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Earl Penney. He is employed by Penney Brothers.

Twin Sisters Marry Cousins; Will Live on Carpenter Farm

CARPENTER, IOWA � Miss Agnes Feldt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Feldt, and Orvie Severson, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Severson; Miss Helen Feldt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Feldt, and Leland Ellingson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gunder Ellingson, were married Sunday at the First Lutheran church at St. Ansgar by the Rev. O.A. Langehough.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the brides' home. The brides are sisters and graduates of the Carpenter Consolidated high school.

The bridegrooms are cousins and graduates of the Carpenter Consolidated high school.

After a brief wedding trip they will take up housekeeping on the bridegrooms' fathers farms which they will operate.

The attendants were Lucille Bublitz and Earl Zuehl. After the service a reception was held at the bride's home where dinner was served. Both the bride and the bridegroom are graduates of the Carpenter High School. They will live in Grafton

Rose Gerlach Weds Harold Nickerson at Parents' Home

CARPENTER, Feb. 22 � Miss Rose Gerlach, daughter of Mrs. Emma Gerlach, was married Wednesday at noon to Harold Nickerson, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Nickerson. They were unattended. The bride wore brown flat crepe and carried a bouquet of yellow roses and sweet peas.

Miss Clara Priem, aunt of the bride, played the wedding march. The single ring ceremony was read by the Rev. E. Walters. A wedding dinner was served to families of the bride and bridegroom. A reception was given in the evening to about 60 relatives and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Nickerson are both graduates of the Carpenter high school. They will visit relatives until the latter part of the week, when they will leave for their home at Elkader where Mr. Nickerson is employed.

50TH ANNIVERSARY -- 1951

St. Ansgar, Iowa � Mr. and Mrs. Philip J. Baldner will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday with open house at St. Petri's Lutheran parish house, Toeterville, from 2 to 5 P.M. and at their home in St. Ansgar from 7 to 9 p. m.

Bertha Decklever and Philip Baldner were married at the Lutheran church northeast of Toeterville November 20, 1901, with Rev. George Landgrebe, Sr., officiating. They moved to Elkton, Minn., Apr, 4, 1902, and farmed there 13 years before moving back to Iowa in 1914, when they bought the farm on which they lived 36 years before retiring to St. Ansgar earlier this year. The couple has two sons, Arthur and Erwin, both of Toeterville, and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Baldner's father, Carl Decklever, will be present at the anniversary celebration.

St. Ansgar � Ardella Groth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Groth, St. Ansgar, and Clifford Warrington, Osage, were married October 6 at the First Lutheran church by the Rev. O. A. Langehough.

A reception was held at the parish house following the ceremony.

Mr. Warrington was recently discharged from the army and they will make their home at Osage.

Pike-Wilde Wedding Ceremony Performed

St. Ansgar, Iowa � Elaine Ruth Wilde, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wilde, St. Ansgar, became the bride of Lawrence L. Pike, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin R. Pike, St. Ansgar, October 7, at the Rock Creek Church.

The double ring ceremony was used, the Rev. Fred Ide officiating.

Attending the couple were Chystal Pike, a sister of the bridegroom, Beverly Irene Nelson, of Albert Lea, Minn., and Roland Wilde, a brother of the bride.

Mrs. Roland Eske played the nuptial music, ushers were Raymond Kroneman and William Beyer.

Following the ceremony dinner was served to the immediate family.

The bride has been at home with her parents. The bridegroom is a graduate of the St. Ansgar high school. He was discharged from the army in June, 1945, after 3 years service and has been employed since that time at the Rex Lockers, St. Ansgar.

Miss Donna Woldum of Minneapolis was maid of honor and bestman was Michael Wiley of Osage.

A reception in the parish hall followed the ceremony.

After a wedding trip to Minneapolis, the couple will be at home in Osage. The bride attended St. Olaf and lowa State College. The bridegroom attended Cornell College and is employed by the Oliver Corp. in Charles City.

They were attended by Miss Wilma Moser, sister of the bride and Walter Schanke. The bride was attired in a white crepe suit, with white accessories and wore a corsage of roses. Miss Moser was attired in blue with white accessories.

The bride is a graduate of the Carpenter high school and Rudemar Cosmetology college of Des Moines. Mr. Hanna is a graduate of the Clear Lake High School. They will make their home in Mason City.

Anniversary observance scheduled

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA � Mr. and Mrs. Emil Steinberg are to be honored, Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. in the church parlors of the Immanual Lutheran Church, on their golden wedding anniversary. No invitations are being sent. The event is for all friends and relatives.

Selma Wilde and Emil Steinberg were wed at St. Johns Lutheran Church, south of St. Ansgar, by the Rev. G. Bischoff, June 22, 1910. They lived on the home farm in Rock Township following their marriage until their retirement to St. Ansgar, in 1943.

Hosts will be their daughter, Mrs. Orlan (Laurine) Perau, Osage, and son, Edwin Steinberg, St. Ansgar. They have four grandchildren, Mrs. Paul Hegland and Marlys Perau, Osage, and Frederick and Carol Steinberg, St. Ansgar.

Prof. J. R. Allen was married to Miss Adeline Lund, of St. Ansgar, on New Year's day. We wish the newly married couple all the blessings that are to be derived from their new relationship and will have something more to say next week.

MARRIED - The first wedding to occur in St. Ansgar in the new century took place at the home of A. N. Lund the evening of New Years day, at which time his daughter Adeline was united in marriage to Prof. J. Randolph Allen, principal of schools of Marble Rock, Iowa.

The ceremony took place at eight o'clock. The bride and groom were unattended. Rev. S. Olsen the officiating clergyman and the wedding march was played by Miss Martha Larson.

The wedding was a quite affair, only relatives and a few intimate friends being present. There were present: Miss Martha Larson, of Northfield. Minnesota, Mrs. K. Nissen, Mr. Pattengill and Miss Vivian Gallup, of Osage and Mrs. C. W. Cowman, of Marble Rock.

Mrs. Allen, has always lived in or near St. Ansgar with the exception of the time spent at the State Normal School. She has a winning way and is one of St. Ansgar's most accomplished and popular young ladies and her friends greatly regret to see her leave St. Ansgar.

Mr. Allen is a graduate of the Iowa State college at Ames, being a member of the same class as J. P. Lund. Following his graduation he was instructor at the college. He is now principal of the schools of Marble Rock and is one of the rising young school men of the state, and he is in every way worthy of the bride whom he has chosen.

Mr. and Mrs. Allen will soon go to Marble Rock where they will be at home to their friends after January 15th.

The Enterprise wishes to join their many friends in congratulations.

Miss Esther Jeffries Became Bride of Traveling Salesman Thursday of Last Week Last Thursday at high noon occurred the marriage of Miss Esther Jeffries to Fay Langsdale of Charles City, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Jeffries, on west Main steet. Rev. A. W. Altenbern of the Universalist church officiated and Mr. Langburn's father from Center Point and the bride's sister, Ellen Jeffries, attended the bridal party. Following the cermony a bountiful wedding feast was served.

Mrs. Langsdale has spent most of her girlhood in Osage and has many friends who will wish her and the young man of her choice a happy wedded life.

The young people left on the afternoon train for a wedding trip. Mr. Langsdale is traveling salesman for the Independent Baking Co., of Davenport and impressed those who met him as a young man of fine qualities. He gave two years of service to his country during the war. The happy pair are now visiting his parents at Center Point and will make their home in Charles City.

Rev. R. E. Brown Solemnizes Wedding of Hattie Springer and Walter Ball August 10. The Rev. Rolla E. Brown of the local Baptist church, was called on to solemnize the wedding of a popular St. Ansgar couple August 10 at the parsonage. The bride was Miss Hattie Springer daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry M. Springer, and the groom is Mr. Walter A. Ball, son of James C. Ball. They will make their home on a farm in Union Township.

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA -- Announcement is being made of the Dec. 2 wedding of Agnes Kline and Wilmer Heimer. He is the son of Mrs. Martha Heimer of Stacyville. The ceremony took place at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ansgar Catholic Church. Mrs. Heimer is employed at the Good Samaritan Center and her husband was employed at a locker firm at Adams, Minnesota, and engaged in farming in Stacyville. The couple is making their home in St. Ansgar.
